The idea for this retail brief was to design 'more than just a store', to create a 'retail experience' within the space. Following our university trip to NYC in order to visit the site of the project, we were each assigned a different retail brand. We were required to consider what the brand will offer in terms of goods and services and how it relates to the brand's identity and values, to provide a solution that will ensure the customers to visit the store over and over again.

The brand I was given, The Home Depot, was an American brand that specialises in providing services for home renovations and construction work. The concept was derived from the brand's 'Do It Yourself' moto, and developed into the 'the workshop shed', the place were things are built, the construction site. The space will function as a center for peer learning and knowledge sharing were customers come together to share resources and knowledge with the help of staff members to build and make things in the workshop space with Creativity promoted around the space in the form of materials and intriguing display features allowing customers to interact with each other as of the idea of a 'maker space'.

The idea adapted to the design was to bring people with similar interests together, to collaborate on design and construction whether they want to "Do it Themselves" or have it done for them. Upon entrance of the ground floor comes the product display, digital display for other products not displayed in store and a consultation area for those who require professional help. The first floor promotes the 'DIY' concept were it includes a design area, a workshop space and a machine zone.
